Sound of the Grauniad

And the Guardian's innovations roll on: they now have a number of daily and weekly podcasts available, with more to follow, apparently:

New Music from Justin Currie

The first track three four tracks to be made available from Justin's forthcoming solo album, apparently to be called Rebound, is are available on MySpace:

http://www.myspace.com/justincurrie

(Justin is/was the lead singer of Del Amitri, and has recently been appearing With Strings Attached, as well as doing his own Monday Night Misery Club gigs and, a little while ago, appearing as part of the Uncle Devil Show - as well as doing the occasional gig with Button Up.)

priceyourmeal.com

Interesting idea, kind of a combination between eBay and 5pm: priceyourmeal.com allows you to bid on meals in restaurants (currently in Glasgow and environs).

Airbus A380

As much as I worry about air travel's environmental impact, there is a certain undeniable romance about it (despite the best efforts of Ryanair, EasyJet et al) - and travel does broaden the mind. Plus, there are some impressive engineering feats involved.

The latest of these is the Airbus A380 - see here for a video of its construction, and read a Guardian article about the trip taken by the wings, which are manufactured in Wales and then taken to France for the assembly of the beast.

Comment Is Free

Latest interesting development from the Grauniad:
Comment Is Free. The name refers to something said by C.P. Scott (long-time editor/proprietor of the Guardian; the Guardian Media Group is now owned by the Scott Trust, in which the family are still involved) in 1921: "Comment is free, but facts are sacred".

From Ben Hammersley's blog, seems like we can expect a redesign on the main site soon, too.

Church

No, haven't entirely disappeared already - just been busy. One of the things I've been doing is working on a web site for our church. It can be seen at http://www.brightonschurch.org.uk (though there is still much to be added).

French Film Festival

French Film Festival time again. Must try to get along to some - would particularly like to see 36, Quai des Orfèvres with Daniel Auteil and Gérard Depardieu. (By the way, if you haven't seen Auteil in Michael Haneke's Hidden (Caché), I urge you to try and catch it.)
This Guardian article says that French films had over 2% of the British cinema market for the first time last year, which is a promising sign.

Edit: Would still very much like to see 36 Quai des Orfèvres, but it seems that to do so as part of the festival would require a trip to Birmingham, London or Didsbury. Guess I'll try and see something else during the festival and hope that this comes North later :)

Clooney Mania

"Exclusive" interviews with George Clooney abound.

C4 news' is here.

There are also clips from Newsnight Review's on its site. Full interview will likely be there after it's been broadcast.

Consultation

Hilary Benn - Minister for International Development and Politician's Politician in the Channel 4 Political Awards this year - is looking for responses about the best approach to tackling climate change, environmental problems and other issues:

(As this article in the Guardian's News Blog points out, he actually appears to be listening, too.)

Google Page Creator

One to come back to: Google Page Creator. Wonder if its code is any nicer than iWeb's?
